May Monthly Favorite

Happy June!! It’s officially summer in my opinion and I cannot wait to relax for the next three months straight (ya know, besides working). With that, the favorite I had for May goes perfectly with the fact that summer is underway. I was non-stop using Jergens Natural Glow tinted lotion in the shade fair to medium.

Here are the features of this product:

  • smells amazing
  • gives a nice subtle hint of color after about three days of use
  • SO moisturizing
  • Doesn’t make you look orange

I know so many people who have tried tinted lotions and felt like they either weren’t moisturizing or made their skin a fake tan color, which no one likes. Jergens, however, doesn’t do any of that. It’s such nice quality and makes you skin look glowing. I will continue to use this until I die because it’s that good of a product. I highly recommend this to anyone, who like me, doesn’t always have the time to tan or get out in the sun as often as you’d like, to get a little color.

Here is a photo of my legs just after shaving (so with practically baby-new skin) and my left leg has nothing on it and my right leg has just one coat of the tinted moisturizer. The photo was taken just seconds after applying and you can already see a difference!

Let me know if you all have any tinted moisturizers that you love too and I’ll have to try them out! I love Jergens, but I’m open to trying other great products too. I’ll see you all next week with another post!

April Monthly Favorite

Happy May everyone! I find it so crazy that April has come and gone, and that summer is nearly here. I can’t say I’m complaining, though. That being said, today’s post is a monthly favorite for April. It took me a little while to figure out what I would talk about because I haven’t really tried any new beauty products, but there was one things I had to buy this month that is more of a beauty tool: a new curling wand.

I’m the type of person that uses things to their death. I already had a curling wand, but I had been using it for 7 years and it finally died on me. I didn’t think buying a new one from the same company would give me different results when styling my hair, but it did! I use a 1-1/2 inch ceramic curling wand by Remington. It has all of the same features as my last one, but the newness of it definitely showed. The loose waves I create with it last way longer throughout the day, even into second-day hair, and the waves themselves just look nicer than they did before. There are also some added perks to the wand, such as:

  • only takes 30 seconds to heat up
  • comes with a heat glove to protect your hand from the open barrel
  • easy to use
  • rotating wire plug which is so nice because you never have to worry about the wire ripping open from twisting it around
  • inexpensive at around $20

If you’re in the market for a new curling wand, then I highly recommend the Remington one. Plus, the last one I had from them lasted seven years, it basically paid for itself. Comment below a product you’ve been loving this month and follow if you like the content. (: See you all next Wednesday!

March Monthly Favorite

Happy first Wednesday of April! Spring is definitely among us, everyone, and I am SO here for it. The weather is steadily in the mid-50s and 60s and I’m very excited for all the things that come along with warmer weather! One thing I will be happy to say goodbye to is dry skin. This past winter has been the worst for me as far as dry skin goes – my normal lotion (which I’ve used for years) wasn’t even cutting it. That being said, all of this leads into what my favorite was for March.

I can’t believe I’ve never thought to do this before and some of you probably use it all the time, but Vaseline saved my skin when I last had a cold and the skin around my mouth and nose were grossly dry. I would just take a cotton swab and put a decent layer over the areas that were really dry and I’d wake up in the morning with soft and significantly less dry skin. I did that for  few nights towards the end of my cold and once it was over, my skin was completely back to normal, thanks to Vaseline. If anyone else is having this problem, I 10/10 recommend using it!

This had led me into thinking about switching my lotion over to a Vaseline lotion too, because it worked so well and didn’t cause any horrible side effects to my very sensitive skin. If any of you do have the Vaseline lotion please comment on how it works for you and if you recommend it!

I’ll be back next week with another post! In the mean time feel free to go back and read some of my past blog posts and follow if you like what you’re reading! (:

Monthly Favorite

Happy February 1st everyone! I figured today’s a great day to tell you what my Monthly Favorite was for January. There were a lot of new things I got to try since Christmas had just happened, but there has been one thing above all of the rest that I absolutely loved and will definitely be a staple in my skincare collection from now on!

My favorite is the Simple Micellar Water wipes. These babies are amazing! They clean my skin and get all of my make up off without feeling too harsh on my skin, they moisturize, and they take off eyeshadow and mascara better than any other make up wipe I’ve tried before and I have tried lots. I was asked by my mom whether I wanted the bottle of the micellar water or the wipes and I’m happy with my decision to go with the wipes. I, like many other women, struggle with not wanting to take my makeup off at night and I figured that if I had to struggle with getting the right about of water and possibly spilling it every night, I wouldn’t want to use it. The wipes are perfect for me because I can use them right in my room at my vanity instead of walking to the bathroom and I imagine they do the job just as well as the water.

I have also noticed that since using them my skin has been a little less dry this winter and clearer! Even around my period, which is when I always break out, there’s significantly less acne than before and the acne I do get seems to go away pretty quickly without any probing and popping my skin. I highly recommend people give these a go, you will not be sorry and there are tons of different ones out there that will suit anyone’s skin type!

Hope you all feel inspired now to grab a pack or bottle of this and clean your skin at night like I do! I hope this post is helpful and I will be back with another post next week!

Fixer Upper Lovers

Happy Wednesday everyone!

First official post of my blog and I’m pretty excited! Not to mention that the topic of this post (as I’m sure you can tell from the title) is one that many of us are pretty excited about as well. What I’m going to start doing every month is a monthly favorite post. I’ll discuss one thing that I’ve been loving all month and want to share with you all!

If you love HGTV or any home-renovation and interior design show as much as I do then you know that the premier of “Fixer Upper’s” newest season was yesterday. I have seen every episode of Fixer Upper and when my mom and I couldn’t wait for the next season to start, we bought their book – The Magnolia Story. Chip and Joanna Gaines’ book will be the favorite I’m discussing for all of November!

I began reading this book earlier this month after having a much needed lunch date with my mom. She bought it and thought I should read it first. That night I began my way through the book.

The book is written in a very interesting style. Most of it is written from Joanna’s point of you, but there are sections of the book that are written by Chip which is denoted by a change in font. The beginning starts out with stories of how they met and the early starts of their relationship and life together – that includes everything personal and business related. It then progresses into the start of their family and little businesses that lead them to their present day show “Fixer Upper” and everything they do outside of the show. It’s such a touching story and goes into amazingly well organized detail about their businesses that most people don’t know about and everything in between. They even wrote about their relationship, the hardships and blessings that came with it and their faith. It was overall, a touching, well written, and heartwarming story. It only made me love them and their show even more. I would give a solid 9/10 rating, the writing style of switching back and forth between Joanna and Chip took time to get used to which is why it’s not 10/10, but once I got past that it was amazing to read.
